Just a load of hippy rubbish? ;)

My YO has recently been on a course to train as an Equine Shiatsu therapist, and she is currently gathering her case studies together. She is a very experienced horse person, and already has extensive vetinary knowledge (although she isn't a vet) and does some equine physio too.

So what is Shiatsu all about? I'm a bit sceptical of some of these types of things, but I realy have no idea. She wants to do a case study on Molly when she is feeling hormonal, to see if the Shiatsu can help calm her down a bit.

So any comments welcome please!

Okay, my course of study wasn't specifically shiatsu, but my understanding is that shiatsu is much closer than stuff like Swedish massage. Shiatsu is muscle treatment...there's a lot of "traditional Eastern medicine" jargon that goes along with the descriptions of it, but if you push that aside and look at it, it's therapeutic massage rather than relaxation massage.

If she already does physio kinds of things, then an added background in therapeutic massage will probably make her an astounding resource for somebody with a horse with muscle issues.
