That isn't going to leave me bankrupt? Some have suggested using back pads as well to provide more clearance.

I use a normal thin high wither numnah and a shires shock absorbing saddle pad (almost exactly like a prolite except on £15!) That way I can use any numnah I want and my horses back is protected.

hi, i use the propper trekker numnah under mine but it presses on megs withers and leaves 2 lines each side of her spine, it costs £45n from better saddles. i was going to get a tirsion equitex numnah coz iv read posts from drummers mum that it is good and gives spine clearence only thing is, its £ 100 inc p&p

I've added a new page to my site called Treeless Saddle Pads which gives you an idea of what is suitable :)

I've just had a good look at the pads, I liked the look of the wool one, shame its a foreign site!

What do you make of the Suber pad? I always thought that bean bags were very hard after you sat on them for a while!? I'd like to get my hands on one to try out, I wonder how much they are?

michelle c: That is the only problem I have with my Trekker, the wither clearance could be better! I use a prolite wither pad to give me more height.

I can't recommend the Equitex enough. It is soft and supple and springs back into shape, I could feel the difference when I first rode on it and it leaves a lovely channel down Drummers spine so no pressure there.

I tried lots of pads and in the end it would have cost me alot less time, money and worry if I'd just bitten the bullet and spent the cash in the first place!!

I really like the look of the Suber Pad. I bid on one on American Ebay not too long ago, but it went for way more than I wanted to pay. I really want one of the Supracor pads - they look fantastic! :D

Freeform also make a pure wool saddle pad - I think theirs is about £40 :)

DRUMMERS MUM,

i tend to be like that wth most things!! i should just bite the bullet and buy one! why did you need the front raiser if the equitex numnah was good?
