I got today 'True Horsemanship Through Feel' by Bill Dorrance....... very interesting! I'm only on the second chapter (the book is huge) and it is a different book from the other 'natural horsemanship' ones I've read - though looking at some of the exercises it doesn't seem too complicated at least :)

Has anyone else read it? It was in the 'damaged' corner of the shop for a fiver, so I couldn't resist it!

Also I bought 'The Question and Answer Guide to Understanding Your Horse' by Michael Peace - I have his first book, and I'm looking forward to looking at all the questions in this book - I've read two of the case studies already and some of the 'ridden' problem queries. I'm looking forward to getting his video, though I haven't put any of his 'thoughts' into practice yet, as I'm hoping this second book will help un-confuse my brain!

This was also in the 'damaged' section for £5 so I had to get it........ as you can guess I got a lot of horsey books today!

Seems to have been your day for bargains !!!!!

Unfortunately, I haven't read either of the books, but anything remotely linked to Bill Dorrance has got to be brilliant. :D

Yes, I have read them. You were lucky to find them for £5.
These two books are among the best I have. And yes, I found the second Michael Peace book did as you hoped - by applying his philosophy to ridden horses. What do you think?
Dorrance and Peace are horse trainers - not writers. So both these books have been done with the assistance of women writers who have coaxed the information out and you have to browse through, going back to them and taking time to absorb it.

Well, last night I read the Michael Peace one - now I understand the 50/50 philosophy a hell of a lot more. I think I'll need to read it a couple more times for it to really sink in, but I've been practising the forward movement technique with my hands and legs - left hand, right leg, right hand, left leg?!

Also I had a bit of a read of Ride with Confidence (also bought for a couple of pounds) as I'm still having trouble with nerves out on the road - and that book is brilliant as well.

While Ebby is waiting for the farrier (when he decides he can 'fit me in' ) it's a good opportunity to read all these books - can't wait to get stuck in properly now :)

I got "True Horsemanship" when I audited a Leslie Desmond clinic last year. Should point out that she's in Uk - in May i think ? In wales...

She's very interesting to watch working - if a little mind blowing.

I realised just the other week that some of my expectations of the Mark rashid clinic I rode at had been set by Leslie. But it was a very different experience indeed 9just as mind blowing :D).

Anyway - I AM working my way through it, but keep getting distracted by things like needing to get a new saddle, so needing to do a saddle template etc etc

Must get back to it....
