I've just added the first riding tips page with video clips and I'd welcome your comments on it.

As with all video on the internet it is very much a balancing act of file size and download time against picture size and quality. I've gone as far as I dare with compressing the picture, any more will give a very fuzzy picture. I've kept the picture size quite big so you can see what's going on.

The clips take about 2 minutes to download on a 56k modem but once downloaded can be played over and over and even saved to your PC for keeping if you wish.

Have a look and see if you think the wait is worthwhile, whether we could make the picture size smaller and speed up the download or if you think it's about right.

Hopefully after all these techy issues the actual page content will help those who want to have a go at the leg yield.

You can get to the page here (http://www.newrider.com/How_To/Riding_Tips/leg_yield.html).

Hello Mike, the download time was ok, the quality on windows media player 7 was good. I visited Ray Hunt's web site recently and the video clips were poor on my computer. I look forward to the new western riding section soon on N R .
I very much like being able to view these clips, and study,
I think its a big help and they are easy to save on WM Player7
Hope you don't mind me asking, but do you get chance to do much riding, the reason I ask is that some
times I think back to when I 1st visited New Rider, I have to smile at your comments about how you feel after being on a horse for the 1st few times, how you like many of us had this wish to start learning one day. We do get through the ache barrier thank goodness :D .
Many thanks.

Hello Fred, glad the video worked OK for you. We aim to do quite a few more in this way as it's a good way of illustrating some things that are difficult to get across in words or static pictures.

As for my riding, I'm in the fortunate position of working next to Court Equestrian and ride 2 or 3 times a week. Still got a long way to go and one or two stubborn faults that are taking a while to shift but that's part of what makes it so compelling I think :)
