I am glad I found this board. I am learning a lot by browsing through some of the other post.
I am learning the technique of horsemanship at the age of 27. I am very lucky because I found someone that has volunteered her time and her horse to teach me some basics. It took us nearly a month to get together but when we finally did it was one of the most exciting evenings of my life. I spent about 3 hours with the horse and loved every second. We have plans to get together again and hopefully this time I will get to ride.
Now My question: She asked what I wanted to learn. To be honest, EVERYTHING. The first get-together I worked on ground rules; leading, lundging...things like that. What kinds of things do you all feel I should concentrate on? I know it is up to me, but I also am not sure what direction I want to go. For now I mostly just want to learn Western trail and pleasure. Any ideas I would appreciate!
Thanks so much!
