Well it looks like we will be getting a new horse in couple of months. I took one look and felt like I had to have her.
She is a 3 year old filly who has just been rescued.
The poor little thing has been backed since she was 15 months old and has already weaned a foal - and she is only 3.
She arrived at the stables 2 days ago because the stable owner couldn't bear to leave her where she was. She will be feed up(she is really badly undernourished right now), given a rest for about a 6 months to a year and then retrained. The owner doesn't want to keep and plans to sell as a pony club mount when she is ready.
Well I think we might buy her and keep her in a good home - can't bear the thought of someone being mean to her.

Yesterday when I was at the yard she was just cowering in the corner of her box, to the point that she hadn't found her water yet. We showed the water bowl and she drank for 10 minutes solid.

I can't believe that people can be so cruel to such a beautiful animal.

What a sad and all-too-frequent story ... and how lucky the little mare has found you.

The cruelty of some people is just unbelievable, but there are those like yourself who redress the balance ... please tell of her progress?

Take Care

Thank you for sharing your story - all too often people have horses for the $$$, instead of the love - please keep us updated on her training progress, and of her personality as she emerges from her 'shell'!!
Good luck to you both,
Jeanine :)

Thanks Guys. Went to see her last night and she actually walked over and sniffed my hand, which was great. When the stables weren't too busy she would put her head over the door and have a look around, so she is coming around quite quickly.
She has now been clipped to get rid of the bot eggs and has had her first lunging lesson.
I think she is going to be great.
