Hunter Trials Confusion!!!! :confused:

On Sunday there are BHS Hunter Trials taking place at the yard.

Thing is I'm meant to be going with a friend who used to keep her horse there. He was put down 2 weeks ago and, although she has been up there 3 times since, I don't think she is keen on going up on Sunday.

I know this sounds really selfish and insensitive on my part, but I really wanna go! I have never watched any hunter trials b4 in my life and I really want to have the experience of watching some.

I think the reason she doesnt want to go is because of the memories and also because her horse is buried on the XC course.

What shall I do - she hasnt said she definitly isnt going but its more than likely that she won't. I don't want to force her in to going, but I do think that it will do her good as its a step towards getting used to being there without her horse. If she really doesnt want to go, then thats fine, but at the moment she is being really stubborn (she is a stubborn person anyway) about going there.

I know she needs time and is hurting, and although I sound really horrid and selfish, Im trying to help her.

What do you guys think??!! :confused:

Might have missed something here, but why can't you go by yourself, or with someone else.

Yep I agree, try and go with someone else. I'm sure it's already hard enough for her hearing about other people's horses and even just being around them. Two weeks isn't long enough to get over this, but you're right in wanting to keep her involved with horses.

I agree with Kiwismum and olympicprincess - maybe the best thing you can do for your friend right now is give her room to grieve. Losing an animal is such a huge deal - when my little cat died it took me a good year to really recover. But at the same time don't let that prevent you from seeing the trials. Is there another friend, or someone else at the yard, you can hitch up with for the day?

Well folks - sorry to say but it doesnt really matter now!

I have a second part time job now and guess when it starts? The same day as the hunter trials!! DOH!!

Apparently there are the yards own trials soon though, so (touch wood) I will be able to go then!
