OK- well i got to ride Tahoe in the indoor at the barn im boarding at for spring break. he was SOOO good, moving well off my leg-even did some leg yeilding, he was go foward (not like him at all haha, usually pretty lazy) AND the best part was even though i was pretty much on a loose rein and not asking anything from him other then 'please dont fall in on our turns' i was letting him do whatever and all of a sudden his whole head drops and he was stretching down and reaching :D i was sooooo happy! and he kept doing it the rest of the ride he was really stretching and going really round and working from behind. i guess that is what good fitting saddles and browbands do! (he grew out of his saddle last fall and it was alittle tight on his shoulders, and his head got fat and his browband became to tight too. i didn't relize the saddle right away so poor boy was being ridden in it. no wonder he was so hard to get to go round and foward!)
however- my lower leg was all over the place while doing posting trot. this isn't a problem i have had in over 3 or 4 yrs. I havn't ridden all winter (about 5months) so i figure that has something to do with it. i cant figure out what im doing wrong. i was trying to relax me leg, perhaps my stirrups were short. i finally droped my stirrups and did some no stirrup work but i still didn't feel like my leg was very steady but better. and when i did sitting trot i felt very stable and relaxed and moving well with Tahoe.
