Hi all, I just found this forum and I am certainly glad I did. I am 51 and altho I have been riding along time I did take an almost 10yr hiatus and have just started back again. Funny how the mind remembers, but the body needs time to catch up ;)

I have a 7 yr old Qhorse, who was backed at 3, rode for 6 mos daily and then when returned to his owner he was not ridden again... I got him in February and have started him back to work...albeit somewhat slowly. We made a change of barns just over a week ago and I am very much enjoying the new barn...LOTS of people in my general age bracket :) and wonderful care for the horses!. After reading many of the posts here I can relate to lots..the good and the less good.

My horse is a relatively sensible horse most of the time...tho does have his moments. He bucks going into the canter sometimes right now, but on the lunge I can see it is when he is unbalanced ... so we are working on alot of balancing in trot work right now. I hated being bucked as a kid and I still hate it now :) I don't really like to hack alot...didn't when I was younger either...but love to school in both flatwork and jumping.

I have enjoyed reading all the back threads and look forward to meeting others!!!

Welcome! I was away from riding for twice as long as you, but found my way back. I have a TB/QH mare, who is gettin gmore TBish every day. :) Luckily, I have enough confidence to deal with her when she's being silly so far (knock on wood) and it's been a great experience. This forum has helped a lot and I've learned tons.

Hope you enjoy your new barn...sounds like a great place! It's always nice when there are at least some people in one's own age bracket, isn't it? :p

I do...but I am not sure how to post them here...sooo... here is the link :)

http://www.pbase.com/ganaraska/image/40106636 I think there are about 5 of them starting here :)

Had a GREAT ride tonight...he flexed at his poll, rounded his back and stepped nicely under himself, relaxed. He couldn't hold it together too long, but I settled him into a nice trot again, asked and he did it again. We only worked about 30 minutes after a quick lunge, but he went so well I stopped...didn't want to get him tired and possible not end so well :) I switched his bit last week as thre was some head fussing I didn't like and I knew his teeth were ok, and I wasn't sure he liked this new one...took afew days, but I am very sure he is happier now.
