What are they for?

Only, when I wrap my legs round Drummer (in my new found riding style thanks to you lot!! :D ) my weight feels like its all on the outside edge of my foot and stirrup, would these help?

which type of wedges?
The ones that keep your heels down or the ones that push your foot to the inside? I think thats the one you mean.
I think they help to keep your feet wrapped around the horse.
I rode a horse at college (really nice 17.1 piebald gelding, very sweet :D ) who had them, didn't find they made much difference, although they did make my ankle ache abit, though I do have weak ankles.

Which way round are they meant to go? I was thinking of having the higher bit to the inside so it felt level. Are they meant to be the other way?

No, you are supposed to have the high bits on the outside, pushing your foot towards the horse? A livery at my yard at them, but got rid of them as she said they were weird - I can't imagine trying to mount in them!

I've never tried these, but have been told that if they're used for any length of time they do awful things to your tendons, which are stretched where they shouldn't be.

i really can't imagagine why you would want to tip your foot that way as surely it wiuld make your feet stick out!!

With those treads they actually make your toes turn in, dont know how.
They aren't that bad to mount with, just feel like normal treads.

Think of it this way, if you want your toes to point the same way you are going on a horse you might have to centre more weight onto your little toe, roll the weight onto your big toe your toes will stick out.

Yeah, I've re read all the posts and just realised you contradicted each other! So they would be good for me then? Help my toes?

I have them and find they give my ankle a little more support than flat ones but don't use them for anything more than schooling as they kill my feet after a while when doing long distances or fast work (my feet tend to slip to the low side when doing fast work and then the bar of the stirrup presses on my foot which is not very comfortable :( )
