have been enjoying pictures of everyone's pony so thought i'd send you a picture of this old lady (me) on her pony. well actually all of mine are ponies now that run from 14.1 down to this little gal who is 12.2 LOL far different from the 16 to 16.2 horses i used to prefer.

She looks really cute :), although I'd never have guessed from the picture she was only 12.2! What's she called?

She does look lovely, little'uns really are far more fun...

I am definitely more happy on my 13hh than I would be on big horse.

I had a long break of 20 years and started riding again in september 04 (40th birthday panic) however I can't get "big" horses at all, and have had a few really rubbish classes on big 16hh and over horses I feel only comfortable on 15hh or less, today I rode a great little pony of 13.2HH and we had a great time, I was a little worried i might be too heavy (9stone and 5' 2'' ) but the instructor said we were fine and Snoopy certainly didnt seem to worry he bombed round the school - great fun! :) I know eevnetually to become a good rider I must get over this and ride the big uns but I can't help enjoying riding ponies ( and feeling so much more confident and at home on them!)

sue, at five two, same as me, you should do fine on a thirteen to fourteen hand pony! this little gal is my smallest but i'm very comfortable on her and on all my ponies i feel i "fit" better. used to ride only the tall tb's and feel that i'm far better using my legs and seat on the smaller ones. actually my favorite is my fourteen one gelding but it's not cause he's the biggest it's simply we click so well together.

her name is sugar. LOL it was sassy when i got her so i changed it hoping she would try to live up to her new name. she can be extremly bratty and is the first to throw me in forty years, then she stood so sweetly waiting for me to get back on! she has a habit if we go anywhere in the trailer and i get out of sight of STANDING on her hind legs so she can see over the truck to where i am. i've attached a picture of the little mess looking for me. a friend thought it was so funny she took pictures. sorry it's a bit dark, was getting late.

Thanks for that
Now I won't feel such a wimp asking for the smaller ponies to ride when I go each week - they just feel better for me and i think they are much more fun to ride!

My pony is most definately more social than my big guy. The big one is happy to just stand and get petted and hugged. But, the pony will react to what I say and will play with me. I can tickle her and she will wiggle her lips. She will play hide and seek, and tag. I must look like an idiot out in the pasture with her, but I think she really enjoys it. This winter she even built a snow man with me. She helped me push the balls(or tried to). Helped me shape his body and put his manure ball eyes and mouth in place. My big horse didn't even look up to see what was going on.

Yup, ponies rule!
