First of all this is not Ebby I'm talking about - she wouldn't dare rear!!

Anyway - this evening after a lovely ride on a pony from another yard we untacked and put B the pony we had ridden out with in the field. We then started to lead this little pony (shes about 13hh and a Dartmoor) to her field. She then started to do really weird things  she was pawing with her front foot, then we clucked and gave a little pull and she sort of did this bunny hopping thing. We decided she probably wanted to roll, but she didn't. We thought what have we done to her but she was happily eating. Then, we swapped so my friend was leading her, then the pony reared straight up and then went for both us  Friend let go of the leadrope quite quickly. We decided to walk her on a bit carefully, but she did it again, caught friend with her hoof and really went for us. Thank god we had our hats on and she had a bp on - if we hadn't we'd have left her there in the huge field!

After trying to ring people etc (no answer) we got the other pony out but she wouldn't follow him, so we eased her down to the other ponys field (with her still stamping and going for me), put her in and legged it. We were their on our own, nearly 9pm at night and we didn't know what else to do. Neither of us wanted to lead the little bugger - only one horse has done that to me before , but then the horse didn't mean to get us - but this little one did!!

If there were more people around we'd have got help, but what else could we have done - and if in future this happens again (not likely - I'm not leading her again!) what should we do?

 Still a bit nervy about it all! And the pony had been so good on the ride.

the pony obvously has no respect for people..what I would do is get some on you or a trainer to lung her, but make sure you know what you are doing and that when you lung her she starts bowing to you...

since you don't say you have had any problems before I would consider feed and turnout. She may just need a refresher of whos in charge. Leading in a bridle would help or a chifney if she continues to rear.
