Just wondered about other people's experiences playing at liberty?

Moo has always done some bits of liberty quite naturally with me but I've spent the last couple of days refining it to build up her lost confidence after her accident. Im also lucky that we have a purpose built sand round corral at my yard, so it would be rude not to take advantage of the facilities really!! ;)

Anyway she's been doing so, so well at it. I used the round pen to work on her circling as she has been a bit inconsistent - running off to the other end of the school when she's bored or doesn't quite get it - and bless her it took ten minutes before she was doing it like the horse on the video - smug pony and smug me!! :p :D

She's even starting to do some jumps and obstacles and she feels so proud of herself when she's done - giving her the responsibility really works. I can even turn her out at liberty now which is a lovely party trick! She also copies me so we can 'dance' together. She loves playing at liberty. I love it too - its proof that all that hard work was worth it - as they say, all you have left when you take off the rope and halter is the truth.

Wondering who else does it and how they find it and how their horse likes it?

Started libery with Treac ... mostly just following and backing away, hoping that we can move on to more, as on lunge she's beginning to have temper tantrums and get naughty.

only problem with liberty is concentration, but I think once we get over the food issues things will get much better.

tahoe and i have allways played at liberty, even before parelli. that was really just me running around like a madwoman laughing as he troted or canterd to follow me. with parelli though i have a little bit more respect (i dont worry about him running me over like last year) and i have put things to more of a purpose, like weaving in and out of trees, backing through trees, having him trot behind me over tarps... through parelli have been able to gain enough of his trust to do these things :D
