How about......dead members?

There are pages and pages of members that have not posted once, since joining years ago, or have just a few posts.Even members that posted regularly, but haven't been seen for years.Some of them might also be multiple accounts. Would it be worth deleting these *dead* members, would it help with space at all? Even if not, it might help to tidy the place up :D It could be argued that maybe some members just like to come and read, but you don't have to be a member to read. It could be done on maybe a one post a year marker, in future, how hard is it to post once a year!? Anyone who hasn't posted for over a year would be deemed to be inactive. I just thought it would be nice to have a list of *real* members, as opposed to pages and pages of strangers :)

thats very true! there are hundredsss of members like that! im with you on this. They wont have to post like every week, as you said at least one post a yeae! lol :eek: ;) Is it possible to delete accounts though?

dont know how anyone could stay away from this site...i was addicted from day one! Ive not been on it for a year! doesnt seem like that at all!!

I do agree that there are excessive members on here who aren't actually active and it would be nice to try and clean it up a bit.

However, I think that just deleting accounts would be unfair. But what about emailing the members likely to be affected if there is a 'cut' of inactive members, warning them that if they don't post, there account will be deleted. That way it gives them a chance to do something about it which should gain us more active users :D

However, will this be an awful lot of work for the Mods?

Another forum I go on has just done this. They sent an email to all members saying accounts would be deleted if you hadn't posted for a certain length of time. The time was shorter for members who had joined but never posted (something like 3 months and 1 month). A thread was set up for anyone in those categories wanting to keep membership - they had to either post on there or another thread within a couple of weeks, if not membership would be deleted.
