Have just been reading thru the BD rules as am hoping to affiliate soon. They are a bit confusing to understand and just want to clarify something.

If I have read the rules right, you are allowed to compete in Prelim Section A without either you or the horse being registered and without a class ticket. To do section B qualifiers, you have to register yourself and can get a free number from BD for the horse. However, if you qualify, you have to register the horse before the next round. Is that correct? And if so, does that mean I can enter a Prelim Section A without doing anything else???? I always thought that you had to use a class ticket, even at Prelim level, if you're not registered, but this does not appear to be the case.

I realise you can't get points at Prelim and also that you'd have to move to section B to qualify but I just want to have a go in an affiliated comp and see how we do.

Someone please help. Thanks very much.

Yes, you have read correctly.
If you're just wanting to have a go section A is ideal as you get a BD judge without having to pay affiliation fees.

One point worth noting (can't remember if you have done afflicted stressage before). If you have points at Elementary (or above) gained from 1994 onwards you are ineligible for section B anyway so it's not worth affiliating until ready for Novice if that applies to you.
