Foxy was so good today, I believe he's suddenly had a brain transplant.
Foxy is the type of horse that usually can't decide whether he wants to collect or extend, and cant do working paces to save his life. Well today, not only did we get working trot and canter, but he agreed to do leg yield, collected canter and medium trot! We even had a flying change in their somewhere. I had to seriously check that I hadn't taken the wrong horse by mistake  !
So pleased with him, even more so now that I know it was definately him! I just cant think what I did that was different though!

Actually no Anja, otherwise every horse would be able to jump 5'3", be able to join the High School, and comptete in CCI *** (or is there now ****'s?).
some horses honestly can't comprehend or don't have the ability to do things. And speaking as someone who has trained up a few horses in different aspects of riding, it doesn't matter wether the rider can give the correct aids. Horses need to learn these things, and some just aren't meant for dressage. And another thing.. what are you even talking about?
and CC, good job! It can take a while for training to kick in, but once everything pulls together, it's really quite a bit more fun than when your still learning/teaching! Happy to hear you both are getting on :)

Everythings been brilliant since then - the 6 months of training him have finally clicked with him, and he's doing brilliantly. We even won a Pony Club dressage competition the other week - Novice Horse trials test 1995, with 62%! What a clever horse!

That's great! I don't have the patience or love for dressage to be good enough to ever compete- it's admirable how many of the people on NR are so wonderfully committed!

Just Jump, ANY horse can extend, collect, do lateral movements, and do flying changes. It comes naturally to them.
I think what anja was getting at is that once a rider is on board, it takes KNOWLEDGE and experience from the rider to know how to ask for these natural talents. Its our responsibility as a rider to ask correctly, in a way the horse can interpret and understand. So in this case, it *is* usually the rider who needs the improvement, not the horse!
As coloredcrazy has said, 6 months of training has finally clicked and they most likely have found a way to communicate with each other - and that is why she's having her success.

Geez, no need for all the angry faces and exclamation points anja. Colouredcrazy said herself that quote "...I just cant think what I did that was different..." Giving herself the responsibility of communicating to her horse.
