Hm excuse this silly question :o , but under some people's avatars (those are the little picture things, right?) they have 'member', some people have little caption-type things and some people have 'banned'. Why do people get banned, if these are banned people?
This technological stuff is too hard for me - and this isn't even a very technical question!
I have just thought of a second silly question. What is a sticky?

People get banned if they have been repeatedly warned about something - eg unsuitable posts - and ignored the warnings or if they have posted something really offensive etc that meant they got banned immediately.
Sticky's are posts that always stay at the top of the forum - with important info in them that we don't want to get lost as more posts are added...eg forum rules etc :)
The little caption type things came from the old board before it was updated - now you have no option what is under your name (ie. member, moderator etc) but if you joined before the board changed you were able to edit this line in your profile, hence the origin of the captions :)

Thanks Esther! Feel much less silly now (well a bit less anyway) :)

You can actually change the captions now. If you click 'User CP' on the bar at the top, and then click on the 'Edit Profile' button from the options along the side, it will come up with a page of options. One of them is called 'Custom User Title' aka the caption you asked about. If you want to change it, there's a box where you can type in what you want to appear.
Technically, it would be possible for a member of NR to type in 'Banned', even when they weren't, and give the impression that they were banned when they weren't in reality. Not sure why anyone would want to do this though!
