I'm thrilled for her, really . . . she's interviewing today at William Fox-Pitt's yard, and if she doesn't get this there are several working pupil eventer positions open out there she could get . . . she's young, brave, smart and talented and could go a long way in eventing. But we will struggle w/out her . . . especially my daughters. There are a couple of options for me . . . I'll probably join a group lesson w/ the chief instructor during the week and then figure something else out on the weekends, but there really won't be anyone suitable to teach my girls. Maybe it's time to switch yards :(

Why not look on BHS website for instructors names and addresses within your area. Most will travel to you or you can travel to them etc. What about others on the yard that have lessons or people with horses who do they have?

I sympathize. I've learned something from all of my instructors, but the best are very hard to replace.
Have you asked her for recommendations? She may not be comfortable referring you elsewhere out of respect for her current employers. Perhaps if you take her out for a nice "thank you and congratulations" dinner, ply her with a little alcohol, ask her honest opinion, and promise not to disclose that she had any role in your departure...

. . . she starts in two weeks. I am so, so thrilled for her. But sad too. Hey ho. Watch out for a young event rider hitting the CCCI circuit in about two/three years!

Good for her!

The trouble is that the really good instructors don't tend to stay at yards long. My instructor left about 2 months ago, and although I still have lessons with someone else, no-one inspires me or makes me ride as well as he did.
I would ask if she would do some freelance work. She can only say no.
