Thought a few of you might like to know how we got on.

Sue (Bowen lady) was really nice, very thorough, she listened to all my problems and then had me walk Drummer round so she could watch him move and felt him all over!

The verdict was that his pelvis is lower on the left so he has muscle spasm which then causes tightness on the right as he is hitching that hip up (if you catch my drift? :p )

She thought that this could have started with the wire injury as a baby (but can,t really tell) and then as I,ve been asking for more work its become more pronounced and then sore.

Drummer loved the actual therapy, he almost fell asleep and at the end he did this HUGE stretch and all his bones and muscles stuck out, it was wierd! :D

She liked my Trekker and said his back was fine and that funily a treeless saddle had stopped the roblem from escalating as he didn't have a rigid tree to push against! (She likes treeless, is buying the new Phoenix for her youngster as she believes trees are damaging to young horses! ;) )

And me!!! She gave me a taster to see what its like but ended up doing my whole arm! (The one that I broke and doesn't have as much movement!) Now that was odd!! I know how Drummer feels now! My arm went all kind of numb and tingly and felt like it didn't belong to me! It felt nice though but its very stiff this morning!

I'm glad you managed to find someone, Bowen is an amazing therapy! Good news about Drummers saddle too (my Bowen lady loves treeless too and has them for her horses).

I'm glad that you enjoyed it :)

I was very impressed. I felt absolutely drained afterwards though and could have slept for a week.

When she did me I specifically wanted treating for my neck/back problems (I've had problems since a humungous machine fell on top of me at work). She also said that she would 'do' my asthma even though I hadn't asked because it's only very mild and I'm resigned to living with it anyway. I hadn't realised until yesterday (duh) but even though I've got a rotten cold, hayfever and a really swollen throat I've only had to use my medication a couple of times since my treatment and even then it wasn't a 'need' more like a 'oh, oh, a bit tight, prevent, prevent, prevent'. I've also not taken ventolin before riding or going up the field (which I always did before) and haven't had a single problem. I'm not saying that it has CURED my asthma, I wouldn't ever be without medication just in case but it has certainly made it much, much better.

One thing that I noticed when she was treating Saff was that although she wasn't actually touching her Saffy's muscles (especially when she had her hand over but not on her shoulder) would twitch noticeably. Not a 'fly get off' twitch but a real 'stimulus' twitch.

I can't wait till she comes again ... she's going to have to treat me for Bowen Addiction :)

I've found that my hayfever is nowhere near as bad since I had my Bowen treatments as it used to be.

I used to be crippled with it all summer and at one point it was so bad I had to take 3 different prescribed medications for it and still wasn't symptom free. Since having my initial Bowen it's been loads better and now all I take is a homeopathic remedy to take care of the few remaining symptoms (itchy eyes & heavy headed feeling, used to get swollen & itchy eyes, sneeze constantly, runny nose, a strange rash and the headaches). It's brilliant :)

Wow, I didn't realise some of the effects it can have!

Drummer was very quiet all day apparently but he was pleased to see me tonight and trotted across the field with a spring in his step! :D She said I can ride tomorrow, but stick to flat and straight and only for 20 mins working long and low.

We have to take it really easy for a week and then she is coming back for a second session next Tuesday! There was no obligation to do so but he was quite bad, I was very impressed and it was her recommendation, so we are going the whole hog! :D

Oooooh! I'm glad it went well - amazing isn't it :D Sounds like Drummer's reaction was very similar to Dolly's :)
