Endurance riding is where you ride over a set distance at a set speed - the object basically is to arrive first or just to complete the distance and arrive home with a sound horse... Its loads of fun - distances you can ride range from 20 mile rides to 1000 miles!! Its a great way of getting your horse (and you) fit and you can ride over beautiful countryside too... Any horse with a basic level of fitness can do the shorter distances, undoubtably the arab reins supreme at long distance due its fantastic stamina but there are also many other breeds which can do long distance - are you UK based or US? There should be a endurance page for the USA which will contain more info... hope that helped are you going to take it up?

Haven't done any yet, but I have been training and I have my first endurance ride in a few days. Even the training is loads of fun.
