Went really well!
Sue was really pleased with his progress :D She gave him a second session and then she is coming back in 3 weeks for a check up! :D My poor wallet! :( ;)
Drummer was just a relaxed as last time and this time he did 3 HUGE stretches while she was treating him! He was really funny, he kept looking at Sue strangely out of the corner of his eye :p
Sue walked him back to the field with me so that she could watch him move and she said he is tracking up evenly again now and his pelvis is rolling nicely from side to side like it should! He must have been feeling sooo good because as we walked away he kicked up his heals and had a funny 5 minutes, something he has NEVER done before when I turn him out! :D
Now I have to design a nice get back to work (loose weight) exercise program and I have some stretches to work on with Drummer in a couple of days! :D

Hi DM, sounds like drummer is really enjoying his treatments. I have had concerns (from nice quiet horse to rearing and broncing on and off) with one of my horses on and off for the last 3 years and have spent a fortune on trying to find what it is, 3 vets have looked, 1 chiro and a osteo and a physio all to no avail, I would be interested in talking to a bowen practitioner to see what they say - How/where did you find your horsey/human practitioner?
Thanks

They weren't even interested at my vet, just said they would put it on the records!
Jessey, thats the site, (in eventerbabes post) go to practitioners and it will give you someone near you. My lady is the Worcestershire one, Sue Buckley, she is soo nice and she even thought she might know someone willing to trim Drummers feet!! I recon, you sound like a perfect candidate!

there is sadly a lack of vets willing to give alternative therapies a go. my usual vet (not the one i had out yesterday) is pretty open minded but he's a rareity. when i was doing vet work experience i was lucky enough to work with a homeopathic vet and his attitude and success rate in helping patients was great.
how many more sessions will drummer have to have?? did you find he got very lethargic?? my mum is having Bowen and said it drained all her energy!!

I've taken two numbers off there and am going to give them a call, hopefully I can get someone to do both me and Bo as I suffer with lower back and pelvis pain due to an old injury and I am sure this is what puts Bo out.
Thanks

I've also had vet, physio, chiro and osteo. The chiro seemed most useful - but due to his injury, there was no follow-up and it turned out the treatment had either triggered or made worse a trapped nerve. The vet and physio basically agreed there was something there, but could not tell me what nor advise treatment
Fi has started to do some good work again - so now I'm in a dilemma whether to get a chiro or bowen person out, or to leave it and see how we go ! (She offered me an amazing jog at the weekend :D)
I think I may leave it a while and go for something like a "6 month" checkup (i.e. August time) unless we have problems in the meantime.
I'd like to know how you go with your bowen session (please !) ?

Bo has always been fairly unpredicatable, as in he would be fine for weeks or even months and then suddenly become the demon horse from hell.
He did it again last week warming up for a pleasure class, he's been fine since august last year and had no tantrums or silly fits. At the show last week he was quite on his toes but settling nicely then suddenly reared vertical twice (I thought he was going over backwards with me  ) and he then proceded to bronc (full on head between the knees type of rodeo bronc  ) for half a lap of the arena, as soon as I could get all four feet on the ground I hopped off and he carried on like this for a full 20 minutes doing a 5 meter circle round me at the end of his reins :( He then did the whole rodeo act 5 times on thursday when we took him to the beach, 2 weeks ago he was like a slug - so what went wrong?
We haven't been able to find it before but I will keep trying, one of the vets and the physio could see what I meant when I rode or lunged for them, just a awkwardness in some of his movements but they also said he is one of the most flexible horses they had seen so couldn't tell what was up, and they both spent ages looking. I think a more holistic approach may be better than one that just looks at one bit.
Thanks for your help

And for people! I have been left very one sided because of my smashed elbow, I actually carry that shoulder higher where I must have held my arm differently when it hurt! Physio only looked at getting some mobility in my elbow and not at anything else! Sue looked at my arm last time, I might book a proper session with her, Drummer and I are probably putting each other out!!
Drummer is having a check up session in 3 weeks and if hes still going forwards I can just leave it at that but I am going to book in for a 6 monthly MOT to make sure we stay on track!
He was very quiet after his first session but the YO has just text to say he is bronking round the field on his own!! I think hes feelin' goood!! :D

yes I agree some vets are not interested in alternative therapy..I guess they see there years spent studying should be suffice,On the other hand vets have saved horses I have been around in the past and I owe alot to them.... some have truley worked miracles so I am not tarring them all with the same brush!
as an owner though however, we know if something is working or not and sometimes need to try something different ..just incase!
Glad to hear things are looking postive :D sometimes alternative really does work miracles to
