That is on 24/7 turnout, fed hay when needed, in light work, would you suggest a hard feed or just a calming supplement!? :p

Not looking too seriously into any particular horse, just wanted to know how to go about something like this.

If the grass is good hay is not necessary as most will be wasted anyway and personally I wuld see how the horse copes with the workload before feeding any hardfeed, my two are on 24/7 turnout no hay and get a handful of lo cal balancer as they are still very young and need the vits for growing if they were five or six they would get nothing

hi my mare is a very livley and nervous mare. i can't have any sugur in her feed apart from the smallest bit. as i was told by my feed expert and my vet that sugers give them energy.

so she is on HI-FI LITE, TRIPLE CROWN base feed, And her supplements.

she is not yet on full turnout

If it were me and my horse was a nut-case i would up the work load and down the feed intake. It's not just the feed that makes him a nut case of course but it is definetly helping him! Keep him on a little bit of hay if you are not going to give him hard feed, but if he is on grass and the grass is nice and healthy and not sparce than you should be OK with just grass and a little bit of hay, say at night to keep him warm!
