farriers formula is expensive but it is very good. Another thing which is good for the feet is cornucrescine applied to the coronet band and stockholm tar to the bottom of the feet to harden them up

Don't bother rubbing stuff on, it stops water uptake.

Soak his feet at least once a day in water for 20 minutes.

Seal his feet in oily substances and you spoil the balance of evaporation and uptake of water in the foot. Oil plays no part in the makeup of the hoof, water does. Dry feet need water not oil.

my farrier recommended cornucrescen(prob spelt it wrong) when i got a mare with bad feet , its a thick ointment type stuff that you rub around the corronet band , it promotes good growth , i also fed her biotin.

it took a while but her cracked poor growing feet that literally shed a shoe every week are now fine!! majic

My farrier recommend Kevan Bacons Hoof Dressing. I has worked really well on Beryl's dry crumbly feet and is a lot cheaper than Farrier's Formula.

There is no scientific proof that rubbing stuff onto feet has any beneficial effect growth and strength wise. Oil makes the feet mushy and crumbly used over time. There is a slight eveidence that the rubbing the coronet band might increase blood flow which might help.
