I really want to get into jumping, and i have jumped 2 foot 9 before. My pony quite likes jumping but we have quite a small school and her saddle keeps slipping forward, she bucked when we put her crouper on . . . I would love to get better at jumping, does nay one have any tips on improving jumping position and style, and heliong to get to my first show??

If your saddle is slipping forward it could be to narrow for your pony. I would go and get some jumping lessons would be the best thing. Find an instructor with good facilities that you can take your pony to.

I would have the fit of her saddle checked if it keeps slipping. I also agree about having some lessons, have fun! :D

asif, no the horse doesn't have to come on to the bit at all when jumping, the horse needs it's head up to see the jump and to stretch over the jump. Also if your horse 'won't go on the bit' it is because you are not asking correctly or in a way that suits the horse. going on the bit is not just a quick fix to build up muscle by holding the head in. It is a way of going that will take time to achieve, i would suggest getting some good lessons if you really want your horse to work 'on the bit' but it isn't neccessary and definitely won't hold you back from jumping.
