As I was mooching in the tack shop today I came across some ' fly bands' they claimed to keep flys and bay for up to 2 months.. There was one strip which was like a coller approx £20 ( i think!) and the other was 4 leg bands approx £15 i think!

I have never seen these before and wondered if they actually worked or just another fad to rip us of with! as Swaggs is suffering from the flies with being on a farm..

BTW she is moving house at the weekend to a new yard where she will have company as she has been in a paddock on her own and she is itching on the fencing and has got me into trouble!

I have come to accept she has a touch of sweet itch which I suspect a while back... I am having trouble finding a good lotion or potion which works, at the moment bringing her in isnt an option either! Trust me to purchase one with sweet itch! but never mind I still love her to bits

Hiya,

I've used these and have had success with them although I think if you do a search on here, you'll find them come up as topics several times with mixed results. Only problem I had (I was using the neck one) was that the plastic split and despite mending it with tape, it finally fell apart long before the repellent had run out. But it did seem to work in the meantime.

i tried them at the weekend. the bands are quite small, they would only fit on my cobs front legs, but he has substantial bone on his back legs so i wasn't too suprised!! they work very well, i certainly noticed the horses weren't nearly as bothered by flies. well worth trying IMO.
