Was exercising one of the horses yesterday and it did 2 huge bucks in succesion which were totally unexpected so I flew off and have hurt my hip, knee and fractured my coccyx :( How long do you think it will be before I can ride I have been told at least 6 weeks and even then I will be uncomfortable

That's gotta hurt!! I would do as the Dr recommends as you want it to heal properly then I would just take it easy. I fell off a few months ago and landed on my coccyx and god the next morning I couldn't turn around in bed it was pretty painful and it took over a week for the pain to go away. Our YO always has an injury but is still determined to ride but I'd take the medical advice. Get better soon ;)

Take it very gently, if it really is fractured rather than bruised it is likely to take up to a year to be comfortable again  I know, I broke mine 2 years ago, it took 6 months to be able to do sitting trot again and a year to be truly comfortable. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if it really is broken it will take that long..if it is bruised you are lucky and it might only take a couple of weeks :) You have my utter sympathy - I have just fallen off on mine again (a fortnight ago) and bruised it and still can't ride yet and am stiff everytime I get up from a chair

*winces* Owie, sounds painful! Yes I would definitely take the doctors advice and wait until it's healed enough... rushing will only make things worse sadly :( so be sensible! Get well soon! :)

Oh what a pain in the rear! (sorry I couldn't resist... :D )
It does sound painful. I've heard that it takes a long time to be completely well again. I am sorry this happened to you! :(

Ouch!! I don't have any advice or personal experience, but I did want to extend my sympathy. What a horrible bone to fracture for a rider. Hard to avoid putting weight on it!

thanks everyone, unfortunatly I had x-rays and it is actually fractured. I went to the dr today and he said I have also ripped my knee ligaments and torn a muscle in my groin. I think I can safely say it will be a while before I ride again :(
