Hi There

Just wondering what girths people use for the more fuller figured cob horses? :)

I'm currently using the Thorowgood one with elastic on the one end, what do other people use and which do you find best to help keep the saddle secure, especially when mounting and is also comfy for the horse? :)

Thanks :)

i only ever use the stuuben string girths on my cob. very comfy and doesn't rub and you don't run the risk of over-tightening like with elasticated girths.

Hi Eventerbabe,

Is it the Stubben Trevira Cord Girth that you are using? Found it on www.stubben4U.co.uk.

I might treat Fatty to a new girth, he has also put on some summer weight so struggling a bit to fasten his current one!

Yup, thats the one! can never remember its proper name!! they are really really soft and wash and wear well. one of mine is 4 years old and still like brand new despite constant use.

Sounds good!

Eventerbabe - Do you use a saddle cloth at all, or any of those sticky things to help keep the saddle in place? Tend to use thin nummnah under saddle just to help keep the sweat at bay, but aware that these can also contribute to slippage!

my friend uses a pad called the limpet saddle pad (i think!) that seems to stop the saddle slipping on her huge cob! i just use a regular cotton numnah. ocassionally a polypad but i find the extra bulk in one of them can sometimes make slipping worse.
