I would love to enter my Mare into a SJ comp, but I want to make sure we are fully prepared !!

At home I have a set of 4 jumps, usually I jump them single but I would like to get Gemi doing some Combos ! Problem is, I am a little Sketchy on the correct amount of length between combos / doubles. And how you measure them.

I have done a double jmup once with about 5 strides inbetween which really caught her out ! lol !! As she is used to doing one and not a course ! :D

Any thoughts and imfo?

This is a nice double and bounce i started casper with

Pole on the ground Then Take 3 human strides (9 pidgeon steps!)
Put a cross pole up...then take 4 human strides (12 pidgeon steps)
put up a larger straight bar.......Then take 7 human strides (21 pidgeon steps)
Put up the final slightly larger sraitght bar!

My horse is 15'3 ish and these stridings should work out for most horses over 14'2hh but obviously you can adjust then untill u feel they are perfect for you horse!

So you have 3 jumps after eachother!

I like DavidHs reply, very useful.

The 'basic' measurements for grids to start with for a horse are normally 3, 7m, 11m, for bounce, one stride and two strides respectively.

Its often easier to have someone on the ground to watch, and see how your horse manages those distances, then you can shorten or lengthen as you require.
