Hi I searched to find a thread about this but there doesn't seem to be one, so sorry if this has been asked before!

I want to know what happens in a family pony class, as i'm taking my 13.2hh mare to a show on Saturday (can't take Phantom - just had suspected azoturia). She's a hardy bomb-proof sort, but speedy, you can flap plastic bags at her so I thought it would be her sort of class! We're also doing unregistered M & M (she's exmoor or exmoor x) and best grass kept, although she's still fat from being on loan, though better than she was!

Do you have to jump? She prefers to go *through* rather than over jumps, unlike Phantom

I think Family pony classes vary from RC to RC. At ours you have to have two people per pone for example a mother and daughter. The pony should be ridden by both and se sane and sensible but responisve etc.

Others I have seen have been as you suggest, the pony should be bombproof etc.

Sorry I'm not miuch help. If you have no idea I wouold ring the secretary of the show.

Nat went in a family pony class with a friend and their horse once. It involved doing a short ridden display including walk trot and canter with both riders and then riding the pony through some obstacles such as cones and over a bit of brightly coloured carpet. Great fun, and I wish our local show had a class like that because Rio would be perfect for it:)

Aw Cassie would be great at that - I don't have a second rider though...although she's technically my mum's pony my mum has never sat on her, or anything else for that matter! Might try and rope my friend into it, although she's showing her welsh cob at the show too!

Sometimes you also have to go over a little jump in your individual show rather than both people riding her. :)
