Another dressage comp today which was horrid in this heat. The competition was pretty tough today and I was warming up thinking that everyone looked really good. Anyway, first test was Prelim 4. We came 2nd with 64.5% which was pretty fair as he kept running through his transitions and shoving his head in the air (a new trick he's discovered and which needs sorting.) Second test was miles better but actually got a lower score of 63.5% but then there's dressage for you (different judge.) Came 2nd again out of a large and high standard class of 13 and was only 1 point behind the winner so all in all a pretty good day. Have decided though to go ahead and order him a Boett blanket tonight. His mane is slowly disappearing and he's getting really touchy on his poll where the bites are. So 200quid coming out the bank account tonight (ouch  )

Okay, piccies. Not great as we're still getting to grips with our new digicam.

Yay well done you! I likes the piccies - did Matt take them? What kind of camera did you get in the end?

Hopefully the Boett will work - he's such a handsome boy, he can't possibly be mane-less!! :D

SJ, we got a Ricoh one which I had never heard of but the chap in the shop said they were very good. We said we were after one for movement shots and he said this one would be perfect for us. Only thing is there are so many modes and things that its taking a bit of trial and error to get is sussed.

How was Usk??

Top stuff, what a great chappie, and great results.

ANice photos, but a wee photo hint, even more applicable to digital cameras with their wildly variable shutter times: Move the camera with the moving 'object' (in this case horse + rider), and take the photo whilst tracking the camera. That way the background will be blurry, not the subject.

Thanks for the tip James. I think I've cracked it but sadly Mat has not and I'm reliant on his dodgy photographic skills when I'm riding. Will bring camera down when you come to ride Arn and can then practise and post some piccies of you both in action :D :D

Well we have had one third place :D

Best news is that we are winning the points championship with a 4 point lead (I only found this out last night as the points had been initially done incorrectly and I was only halfway up the leaderboard.) The last comp in the season is the August one so providing we don't seriously mess up, we should win overall. Not bad seeing as we only started halfway through. :D :D

Oooo! Check you out... flying into the lead!!! :D

I'm sure you won't mess up, unless James leaves poor Arnie mentally scarred after the whole lead reining fiasco looming up! :( :D
