I was away over the weekend and when I came come home I found that my dad had moved Shannon to a different field that she never been in cos this is the greyhounds field with their house.
He moved her there to 'lawnmower' the overgrown grass.
I went in to check on her and was horrified to find fleas on her face  (obviously they must have come from the dogs), pick them off and move her into another field.
My question is, are fleas bad for horses or is just dogs?
My dad thinks I was over-reacting, that the fleas are harmless to horses and that the weather was so warm which was why they were on Shannon's nose while she was grazing, mistaking her for a 'dog'. :o
What do you think?

Fleas are not just bad for dogs. Cats get them along with all manner of critter.

Get her out of there, or at least treat her for them.

Fleas can cause mange if left too long. It doesnt matter if its a dog, cat, horse, cow, pig, mouse....

When treating for fleas, you have to keep in mind flea eggs. Make sure you treat long enough to deal with the eggs.
