argh! its boiling hot these days! pon normall wears her rambo sweet itch hoody but it really is too warm for that now, she was ending up with sweaty armpits and sweatpatches on her neck.i was trying to get her just a meshy light flyrug with a neckpiece today (i am no rockefeller, so a Boett is out for the time being) .... failing miserably! got a weatherbeeta softmesh one first, fitted pkay but the socalled neck cover was a joke, as it barely covered half her neck standing up and none of it when she was eating. so i took that one back to the tackshop who were kind enough to swap it for an alternative in shape of a mesh rug with a decent neck cover by aeroform (aerofit?) aerborne? you know what i mean!).

tried that one on, the neckpiece was grand BUT the whole rug was way too long for her, it was below her knees and didnt quite fit at the chest which would have caused her to trip over etc. i was too scared to take that one back as well (there is just the one tackshop round here and it would be unwise to pee them off!), it will have to go on ebay :(

does anone have an idea of a mesh rug with a decent neck cover (ie not one that disappears the moment they start grazing!) that fits a wide chested pony woith a long back??

i sent her out naked with flyspray (half a bottle ....) on now, but that is not really a good option because she has quite sevfere sweet itch.

how handy are you with a needle - could you double up the dangly bits round the bottom and sew them up? you can also put darts in the chest to make it smaller.

well, i managed to customise our current rug quite well. i think i will have to move the chest straps up on the new one (position theyre currently in stop her front legs from moving properly) and sow up the long bits. i wont have time to do that before the weekend though. i have put the old rug back on now, as she already took out bits of mane after just 24 naked hours in the field, along with being tetchy and irritabe with all the flies. i hope she will be okay until the w/end and that the new rug really is cooler!
