I am a novice rider who started to ride about a year ago. I have decided to take the BHS stage 1 course to enable me to learn more about these beautiful animals (actually I am already obessed) and I am about 3 weeks into the course, and need some help.

All the other people on the course have either got their own horse or have had their own horse so I feel a bit green.

Although I have lessons at another school once a week they do not teach you anything about stable management. I therefore do not really no how to groom, muck out, tack up etc.

Does anyone know anyone in the Manchester area who would be willing to let me help them with their horse, I do not want to ride it just to be around them and learn about them, otherwise I am worried I may not pass this course, and it means so much to me.

Can anyone help, and I hope you do not think this is to cheeky to ask

Beverley

ps I am away for a week from 20.5.00, so I will not see any replies until 27/5

Try advertising in the horse section of the local paper or Diamond Free Ads, or put a postcard in a local saddler's. There are usually people who would welcome help, but be prepared to provide references, and be wary of anybody who does not want them. it is their valuable and hopefully much loved horse you will be caring for.
Good Luck
