So were getting two new horses about 2 weeks apart from each other and there is my gelding in the pasture its a run in shead pasture connected. We want to put all the horses in one pasture its by far big enough and unless they dont get along we hate to seprate them.

How do i go about doing this? I was going to put my gelding in the pasutre block it off and put the new horse in the stall then open the gate so they would met and just stand back or should i have him on the lead and the new horse on the lead and have them met in the yard with a person holding each one? But i thought if they fight thats dangerous. But they shouldnt seeing there all very mellow but still theres a chance.

How does your stable or you go about doing this? thnx

We just did this with our 2 new horses. Let me first say I am not an expert by any means. We picked up our 2 new horses on the same day. They had never met each other but must have bonded on the lengthy trailer ride because when they got to the boarding stable, they were neighing to each other and sticking close together. Our stable put them in pasture together with no other horses first. But their pasture was adjacent the horses they will eventually be with, so they can sniff each other over the fence first. After a few days, they began putting two other mares out with them for a few hours at a time. They are now permanently with one other mare. I think they are getting moved into the other pasture as soon as the one aggressive gelding that is in there gets picked up by its owner at the end of the month.
