Hi, does anyone have any ideas on what to do for a individual show in showing and equitation at a local show? would figure of eight in trot then canter be sufficient?

A show for equitation is a little different to a normal show because the judge will be looking more at the way of going of the horse than it's conformation. A three loop serpentine in either trot or canter (whichever you can manage) is common and looks effective, especially if you do a transition to halt or walk over on of the changes of rein. If you can do a halt in the middle of your show it shows that the horse is obeidient. Like you said, figures of 8 are good, but you should only do one in total as otherwise it gets boring for the judge to watch, so perhaps do the figure of eight in the pace you didn't do the serpentine in. If you can extend in canter at the end of your show, then do.
