Just wondering, since in Enlightened Equitation the weight aids are very important, will a gel pad interfere with this? Its just that gel pads are designed to spread the riders weight more evenly, and EE requires weight to be placed accurately on a seatbone to get the desired resut (eg. in turning). Hmm...
God bless,
Jane.

Hi Janey,

We don't really like actual gel pads, as the gel can move around in them and not be even. The backsaver pad, designed by Heather, has the same foam as the seatbone saver, which is even, moulds to the horse and doesn't leave excessive thin bits.

That aside. Try getting on all fours and carrying a child on your back. Then try sitting them on a cushion on your back. I think you'll find that you can feel if they wobble, or their weight changes. Pads distribute pressure more evenly, not exactly weight.

Hope this helps.

Do they fit under the saddle and above the numnah/saddle pad, or do they completely replace the saddle pad and there's no need for one?

Maci :)
