new to all this stressage!!!

well iv been doing well with shadow and his schooling and he is really developing a topline now, its amazing how much his muscles ahve improved and my aim is to do a really easy dressage test at the end of the season, but im really scared, show jumping is soooo much more natural too me, so really i wanted some advice on which twst to do thats easy and also what to wear etc!!!
should i do the white numnah thing as i have a black tb? also is there any rules against tack etc??

see willingbe's sticky at the top of the thread for the official rules :) i recently read an interesting article by a dressage judge and instructor (did put up a post about it but no-one answered) and she talks about stages of training. starting with moving off from the leg, rhythm, suppleness then contact. all judges are trained to look for these points, and the more advanced the test, the more advanced they expect you to be in these stages.

as for which test, start at the bottom!! i've done a few prelim tests, none particularly hard. a lot of places now do intro tests which don't involve canter. ideal if you are just starting out in dressage.
