I just talked to my instructor and I will take my own mares to their first riding lesson on Friday. For some reason this really makes me nervous. I really haven't been riding them that much since I brought them home 3 weeks ago. We have been doing lots of ground work and lots of just walking, since I am still working on getting tack that fits and since they both had to be shoed first. I have to hack about 20 minutes from our stable to the riding school and everything. My husband will take one horse, and me the other. I so hope my trainer likes them. I am so worried that they will be nervous, since I know I will be and I would hate for the trainer and the other students to say "why did you buy those crazy horses?" Some encouragement, please!!

Just keep in mind that this is new for you and your horses!! Don't expect too much and look for little things that they and you do do well. By focusing on those positive things you might not be so nervous!! Good luck, grin and have fun!!!!

Every time you do something for the first time you are bound to be nervous. But don't worry. You haven't bought killer horses. They will look after you and I am sure you will be amazed at what you all acheive together. If you start getting nervous while you are hacking to the stables just pick a silly song to sing. And shout it out as load as you can. This will get rid of most of your nerves as you will be too busy laughing at your OH's tone deafness. :D Remeber to have fun and ditto to remember all your positives no matter how small they may seem. Happy hacking and riding lesson all on the same day is a big achievement. :D

Good luck - I'm sure it will go well!

I'll be taking Jake to his first lesson soon (picking him up this weekend, so will give him a while to settle in first!), so I'm sure I'll have pre-lesson jitters too!

Let us know how things go
