Ex-racehorse

Does any one have suggestions about where to start training an ex- racehorse. Maybe something I should know before diving in?

If you have gotten one directly off the track I think the best thing you can do first off is turn them out for a couple of months and let them adjust to just being a horse.

yeh good idea but dont turn them out with jumpy exited horses and ponies turn them out with calm and relaxed ones!

I started from scratch, as you would with an unbroken youngster. Did lunge work and worked on voice commands which could be transferred to riding. Good luck!
