I have started schooling my horse quite a lot now and have noticed that when i trot or even walk that his head goes up and he evades the bit. His mouth/back was checked not that long ago. He seems not to be comfortable with his bit i was thinking that because i was using a single jointed snaffle that maybe this is pinching his tongue. I have tried a myler comfort snaffle but he is still doing the same. I am currently looking at the sprenger or neue schule bits as they have copper and promote saliva, right now his mouth is quite dry . Anyone changed to one of these bits and found a difference and if so what one did you try, i do not want a strong bit.

I assume your chap was working in a good outline / on the bit before? or is at a level where you would expect him to be able to?

If he is then it may be worth trying the other bits you mentioned, personally I like the myler my guy is so much better in his but it does take them a while to get used to them, I wouldn't expect to see any remarkable difference for maybe about 10 rides, they work in a whole diferent way and the horse has to get used to it and learn what your asking so make sure you give each one pleanty of time.
