You don't need to stop - just ride around the outside of the arena at whatever pace you want. Make sure you go past the judge once and that your number is visible (where I used to compete we didn't have numbers and just had to shout it at the judge as you went past!). Keep an eye on the judge though in case they haven't got it for some reason and then you can tell them or whatever. Other than that, just ride round (can change the rein/ pace, whatever) until the judge rings the bell for you to go in.

Interesting - the judge should already have the order of horses, time to start and the writer will have the test sheets with number, name horse on them already. It's quite unusual here to ever ride past the judge or around the outside of the arena - depends on the grounds.

If it is run according to BD rules:-
Work round the outside of the arena until the bell/horn goes. If you are in an arena where you can't get round the outside it is permitted to work inside the arena.
Do ride past the judge so they can see your number - there may be people who have not formally withdrawn (i.e. just not turned up). So it is correct to allow your number to be seen.
