Definitely! If he's within the height then go for it. The Welshies do make great WHPs. :)

there are also at some shows specific M&M WHPs - so if you can do that, then that'ds better. depending on how typey a D he is, he may not be of the exact stamp for a plaited working hunter, he might be too heavy and ponyish. the horsier types will generally do better in a plaited class, but do give it a go. a good, stylish jumping round will count for a lot.

wear exactly what you do for the m and mm classes but you can carry a whip in sted of a cane and you can wear a mnartinglae and boots(jupming phase only)check the rules thou as to what hat to wear you will probably need a chinstrap
hope this helps

I show my sec d in wh, you won't get kicked out! try a m&m wh class if there is one, as i find the jumps are slightly smaller to accommodate the smaller breeds, which is always less daunting if it's you first show!! if not, you don't have to plait him up, the judges will take into account that you have probably done a m&m class, in which your horse will be left natural!
in response to melissajoy, every sec d i have ever known has been crazy, but, they are extremely good doers (mine lives on grass and hay all year round, and only gets supplements when i need him to look good for the shows!). I would recommend buying a welsh pony/cob as even though they are mad, they are great fun!!
