Recently I put my horse up for same, Zippy, and i have had a few responses on him. 2 which were western. He was trained english but I have trained him to neckrain and he is OK not the greatest but a nice western prospect. The one lady wanted to tack him on trails (western or english) and a 14 yr old girl who rides western. The both seem pretty good but i dont know which would suit him better. Zippy does not like being in shows and would be a great trail horse, but at the same time I'm not sure if I want him to go where he would just be a trail horse. Would it be ok for him to go from english to western?

thanks, Kait

Its not that much of a difference going from english to western for the horse as it is for a rider. Also just wondering...why dont you want to sell him as a trail horse?

Yeah, I dont think it would make much of a difference for the horse as for the rider. You dont have to neck rein when you ride western....I ride my horse western and I dont neck rein with him often because he dosent respond to it as well. What do you do with Zippy now?? Maybe you should find a home that offers him similar things (showing, trailing riding, etc.) that you have been doing with him if that is what he likes. Also things to consider selling him to the yonger girl is...will she loose interest?...will she have to sell him when she goes to college?...etc.
