Anyone any tips on the perfect sitting trot?
I want to progress to Elementary level as we have been doing well in prelim and novice, but to withstand sitting trot for a full test is a nightmare!
My mare is short coupled so strides can be a little bouncy. I have been told about the 'hover' but find this difficult to do whilst maintaining rythm and balance or horse, let alone balance of myself :D
I am just hope that it will get better with practice as neither I nor neddy have done a lot of sitting trot, so there is a bit of tension which obviously will affect our marks/performance.
thanks.

you could try work without stirrups. i do this everytime i have a lesson, my instructor says you can never do enough of it! it has improved my seat and my sitting trot as sitting trot seems so much easier with stirrups now!!

Also take a look at Heather Moffett's site (http://www.enlightenedequitation.co.uk) as she has some excellent advice for all of the paces. It's also worth buying her book AND if you can afford it going on one of her equisimulator courses.
