Right now tahoe is in a french link D ring. now, he doesn't go horrible in it or anything- i just think i could get better.

now a couple people suggest to me to get a loose ring bit because there is some more play. however i have heard that they tend to pinch the horse. what do you all think?

also i was thinking about getting something other then stainless steel...sweet iron or copper or a mixture, i think that would make him happier even as sometimes he gets fussy with his mouth. i want him to be very happy with what is in his mouth, i think i settled for the french link i have because it was 10x better then the single jointed hollow mouth i used to have. i definatly want to stay with a double jointed bit, but what does everyone think of something with the sweet iron/copper and loose ring?

Did you see my recent thread on loose ring bits in general section? Skeeter does not seem to be liking his, although most of the horses at my stables seem quite happy in them. There is more play and I think that is exactly what Skeeter does not like. My contact is not that steady or consistant, so I suspect the bit is moving around a bit too much. I also had another thread about bits some time ago, so do a search under my username for threads started by me and you can see a whole bunch of ideas on that thread too.

if he respons to a bittless corss under or hackmore it will keep his mouth soft and lots fun if used right :D but they can be harsh.

he hates hackamores. if i touched him it scares the poo out of him to the point of stoping and even once a rear  , i have ridden him in a halter a couple times and he isn't as bad but he definatly pefers a bit.
