Hi Folks, new to this site but very impressed with set up.
Does anyone have any info on parrot mouth in horses
Cause/cures etc

Paul: That's just the way the horse was born. No cure. If it doesn't interfere with feed or bit, no need to worry unless you are not happy with the horse. My friend has a horse with parrot mouth and she doesn't care. She just loves the horse like he is. Just make sure there are no foals from this horse since it is probably passed on to next generations. Good luck.

um some horses that have parrot mouth are hard to bit, and if it's really bad they are put into a hackmore!!! :rolleyes:
but in most cases it is only slight!!

There are more kinds of bitless bridle out there apart from the Hackamore, much kinder ones too!
I personally wouldn't have a horse with Parrot Mouth, It is more likely to get worse as the horse gets older and may result in feeding problems as he ages.

oh yeah i know there are loads, but i have never had experience with one, or ridden a horse with one, so although i know about them and what they do, i have no real need to know what one does what,
a hackmore was just the first one i thought of as it is the one most talked about :)
