The horse I ride pop's up a lot in the front end when we jump. But after this summer, I have been riding many different horses as well as leasing this boy:), I have realized the my jumping position on him looks silly. My hands follow his neck and everything but I am standing to much in my stirrups (I think) and as a result look like I am standing up with my hands forward but my body's not giving at all. I took the knee rolls out of saddle a while back but am hoping if I put these in It should help. My stirrups are shortened and I have long legs so any suggestions? I have the bend in my leg but just seem to have a very weird position.
I'll see if I can find a picture of this.

Yes! Thats almost exactly what I am talking about... except I think sometims my body isnt totally following like that... only my hands are... :( Very strange. Doesnt happen all the time but I was wondering if any one had times to fix it. :)

It could just be the pictures! If they are taken from any sort of an angle when your horse is just taking off they can just look like that, in the case of that picture I was just way too far out of the saddle to early and needed to fold more.

i am a firm believer in gymnastics...a cure for everything, drop your stirrups knote your reins and use bailing twin tied to the D-rings on your saddle then unbunkle the end of your reins (the knote should be just about where you would hold your reins) and put the reins around the bailing twine and buckle back up.
this makes it so the reins cant go flying over hte horses head when you go through the gymnastics without reins and you hold your hands on your shoulders, behind your back and on your hips :D
have fun :D

Yes! Gymnastics! I am a crazy kid when it comes to those, because if you do it right, they're sometimes harder for the horse to run out of. I know the horse I use to ride wouldn't jump anything, but gymnastics she was like a pro at. I love how you can do no stirrups, no reins and sometimes you're eyes closed (For those dare devils with perfect ponies ahaha)
But yes, Gymnastics rule the world
