This problem that I have with my horse all started after i hunted her for the first time last year, before that she had never done it.
She has a horrible habit of snatching at the reins by yanking them really hard, sometimed pulling them out of my hands. I've checked her bit, no problems there (french link snaffle) and she saw the dentist a fortnight ago. She only really does it when she's excited or wound up, has anyone else had a problem like this?

My horse used to do this quite often although not as hard as your horse does, i also use a French Link and she had her teeth done a few weeks ago but she did it again today or the first time in ages  so i put it down to the fact that it was windy and trying to rain and she's not keen on rain and really hates the wind, but when i got back to the yard her numnah was slightly creased under the saddle and appeared to have nipped her skin slightly so i'm putting it down to this (for now) so providing you check that your tack is ok and there's nothing sticking into your horse you're ok. If she still does it and you know everything else is ok its obviously something else. Would you consider trying a different bit or has your horse always used a French Link? Could she possibly have a small sore or anything in her mouth causing the bit to irritate?
There are 2 many reason's for a horse to snatch, does she do it more when you're riding out because it could just be that she enjoyed the hunting and maybe wants to go faster than you want her to? Have you changed any of your tack, food?
Hope you get it sorted
