bit of background, this pony has been jumping for 4months...and this is around the biggest ive ever jumped and we kinda muddled through and have got here together...probably not the best way to do it but hey! any criticisms very welcome. Thanks!

Hey... I really think you should be giving your pony more head. Lossen your riens when you ride, give him a loop or so, this will keep him from learning to chip in. Also flateen your back when you jump. I know with ponies it is harder but even if you have to over extend it is always better to look flater.

Ask for any advice,
Corinne

Eyes up! ;) Though I know many people *Hem hem* not ME of course :o , that still have habits of looking at the jumps instead of the nice treetop (Or something) in the far distance... nice pics though! :)

Edited: though I think it only apply's to the second picture over the X jump.

yeah i have that awful habit of looking at the floor lol! helps actually if the school is busy because i need my eyes up to avoid crashing.

casey:yeah so do i hes such a sweetheart, so easy to train and hes taught me SO much too.hopefully if i can walk by later on this week (got booted by a horse whilst out riding, leg V swollen) i will take him to a local jumping show and do the novice, and maybe intermediate depending how brave/stupid i feel!

is it best to loosen my reins up, or do i need my hands further up his neck when i jump? just because he *really* enjoys his jumping, and in the eggbutt he's speedy, so if i make my reins longer im very likely to get carted..uhum...

thanks for the tips everyone, and the nice comments, ive worked so hard with him its nice to know its all worth it!

if you just let him take as much rein as you feel he needs over the jump that should be fine dont loose the contact too much thou i agree you need to fold at the hips more you are staying rather unpright in the saddle which could cause your pony to knock the jupms with his hind legs you need to find something to look at as you go over the jupm preferably somthing in the distance but i can hardly talk my um is always saying head up lol your pony is beautiful v v cute!!
