Ok. So the Caledonian Championships (riding club) are local to us (Scone) and you can enter as an "individual" so don't have to qualify or be teamy or anything.

I had mentioned I thought it might be a giggle to my big sis. And last night she tells me we are now entered in various tests (Riding Test 8 ?) as well as pairs dressage

Now - she has a laid back highland, circa 14hh. I have a 15.1 Appy mare who adores her chap. This could be interesting.....

We figure that in order to do a matching "working trot", her chap will do "self-employed" trot and Fi will do "public sector" trot ;) (no offense intended to the publi sector...)

Does anyone have any tips for making up the test etc ??

Check the level so you can work out the required/permitted movements.
Show riding together as a pair (i.e. stirrup to stirrup) but also apart but opposite each other (i.e. on opposite reins but 'mirror image' it).
Don't ride eveything from the markers, try doing things in different places - judge will enjoy things that are different from everyone else.

If you want some specific choreography let me know - I'm sure I've got some old pairs work somewhere. Is it still 40m arena or is it 60m arena now. Time limit?

Both horses are probably mostly "prelim" with patches of novice. For example Fi still struggles with right canter lead. The Highland was offering some magic work the other weekend, but all collected and hasn't really worked out how to lengthen and stay balanced yet. (practically offering "almost piaffe", but can't lengthen  )

So I suspect we'll stick to simple movements and work. But I don't know the rules etc yet. If you have some simple "tests". can you send them my way anyway as examples ?

I have a feeling Fi is going to spend the whole time fluttering eyelashes at the highland so its going to be a bit of a riot anyway :D

The pairs tests I've seen the equestrian centre/rc give you the test to ride, which you print off and learn. Not seen one's you make up yourself sorry cannot be of help to you.

the details are supposed to be in the rule book ... which I can't find  Is there a separate RC rule book and what does it look like ? (I have the BHS Year Book but there's only a couple of pages on Riding Club). Surely I should get this as part of my membership ? So I figure I must have it somewhere and just need to work out what "safe" place I've found for it
